What to do if your plan is ending
- Read the letter from your plan. It names the plan that is ending and your choices.
- Compare options for 2027 before December 7: another Medicare Advantage plan, or Original Medicare with a Medicare Supplement and a Part D drug plan.
- Check that your doctors, hospitals and prescriptions are covered by any plan you consider.
- Get free, unbiased help from California HICAP (Health Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Program) at 800-434-0222, or Medicare.gov, 1-800-MEDICARE.
How do I know if my plan is ending in California?
Your plan must tell you. You should get a notice by October 2 if your plan is not renewing. You can also look for your plan on this page by company, or check your county page.
Can I keep my doctors if my plan ends?
Not automatically. Each new plan has its own network, so check your doctors and prescriptions against any plan you consider.
Do I have to enroll if I call?
No. Calling is a conversation about your options, and you are never required to enroll.
